Parachute And Their Crusade For Fame

Parachute is a pretty young pop rock band, as well as its members. After graduating from college in 2008, some enthusiastic dreamers formed the band that was first called Sparky's Flaw until one of the biggest skincare brand - Nivea - asked the change of the name. And so, Sparky's Flaw became Parachute, a "blue-eyed soul, adult pop, Maroon 5-style faux-funk: it's the Goldilocks of pop-rock, neither too hot nor too cold, but just right" as Fly Magazine depicted it, that started a massive attack for popularity and fame.
They've toured for months in the U.S. with artists such as O.A.R., Switchfoot, Duffy, Matt Nathanson, and Jon McLaughlin and as part of the Nivea champagne, they performed in front of over one million people in Times Square for New Year's Eve in 2008 along with heavyweights such as Jonas Brothers and Taylor Swift.
Their crusade for fame continued in 2009 with their first major tour following the release of Losing Sleep, their debut album. To promote the album, Parachute toured with artists such as 3 Doors Down, The Script, Secondhand Serenade and Kelly Clarkson, opening on October 6 in New York City at the Hammerstein Ballroom and making many stops including Chicago, Las Vegas, and Seattle. Since then, the members dedicated themselves full-time to promote the John Shanks-produced album and the second single of the album, "Under Control", was named the Free iTunes Single of the Week.
However, after months of touring, Parachute became internationally famous in 2010, when the band embarked on a European tour as a supporting act to Kelly Clarkson. Thus, they performed for the first time in United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands and Denmark and they practically seduced the audience, gaining more fans as well as more dates in the U.K later on that year.
Then, the band returned to North America for a three-week string of performances, sharing the stage with alt-rock band SafetySuit, singer/songwriter Joe Brooks and pop rock outfit Hot Chelle Rae. This spring, Will Anderson (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Johnny Stubblefield (drums), Alex Hargrave (bass), Kit French (saxophone, keyboard, vocals) and Nate McFarland (guitar, vocals) toured again as opening acts for Plain White T's. Their crusade for fame isn't over as they have a sophomore album, titled The Way It Was, to promote. Besides, they've just announced on the band's official site that they will hit the road again this summer, this time with Michelle Branch and the Goo Goo Dolls.
